Brutally Honest Advice for Aspiring Artists
Emily and I have been friends for many years. I respect her opinion and her direct commonsense, delivered in the spirit of love. Several years ago she wrote this article, and it has been a mainstay in my musician's bible. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned professional, this advice is timeless. I assure you, her advice is to be of help and make you a better artist.
"You are not your voice. If you feel like you’re just going to DIE if someone whom you consider important doesn’t validate you as an artist, you are not ready to be in the music industry."
As children we see performers on stage and are enthralled. What we don't realize is the spotlight is dessert after a very long meal of liver and brocolli.
