Traveled Road

Robert Frost has always been one of my favorite poets, and I love his poem The Road Not Taken. The poem has been referenced by many people. Often times it conjurs an image of an overgrown path with a person struggling through tall weeds. I find this image rather disheartening.

I see something completely different. I imagine a person swinging a manual grass cutter and blazing a trail. Is it hard? You bet! Has everyone done it? No way! But you have been called to travel this road . . . making it easier for those who follow.

The song Traveled Road was written with that idea. Whatever path you face, whatever challenge lies ahead, swing at it with all your might. Leave a trail so big, others who see you have no choice but to be encouraged by you facing your fears and doing what seems impossible.
